The Charterhouse Summer Camp is in full swing, and we’re thrilled to report that things have been going exceptionally well. After a warm welcome and smooth arrival on Monday, our second group of students have already settled into the rhythm of camp life—making new friends, enjoying the beautiful campus, and diving into their academic programmes with curiosity and energy.
This week marks the start of Junior Entrepreneurship, one of the most dynamic and hands-on courses in our academic programme. Taught by Ben, an experienced educator with a background in business and innovation, this two-week course is designed to ignite students’ entrepreneurial spirit while building core life skills: communication, creative thinking, decision-making, and resilience.
What Is Junior Entrepreneurship All About?
Junior Entrepreneurship isn’t just about starting a business—it’s about understanding the world through an entrepreneurial lens. Throughout the course, students will explore what it means to be a creator, a problem-solver, and a leader in a fast-changing world. The goal is to help each student develop not only practical knowledge but also the confidence to think big and speak up.
Here’s a breakdown of the learning journey ahead:
🧠 Building the Entrepreneurial Mindset
Before diving into business plans and pitches, students will spend time understanding what makes an entrepreneur successful. This includes:
Recognising opportunities in everyday life and thinking critically about how to solve problems.
Embracing creativity and innovation, and learning how to develop ideas from scratch.
Overcoming the fear of failure by seeing setbacks as a key part of the learning process. Resilience is a muscle, and this course helps students flex it.
📊 Understanding Business Fundamentals
Once the mindset is in place, we turn to the essential tools every entrepreneur needs:
Branding, marketing and advertising: How do you position a product or service? How do you make your audience care?
Negotiation and persuasion: Through games and challenges, students learn to think on their feet and argue their case.
Professional communication: Students practise using business language to sound competent, persuasive, and polished—key skills for future academic and career success.
💡 Creating and Pitching Business Ideas
By the second week, it’s time to bring everything together. Working individually or in small teams, students will:
Identify a real-world opportunity or problem to solve
Design a business plan, including a brand identity and slogan
Pitch their ideas to a panel of staff and peers, simulating a real-world investment environment
This is where the magic happens: students light up when they present something that’s entirely their own creation. Even the shyest participants find themselves standing taller, speaking clearer, and thinking with purpose.
What’s Next?
Over the next few days, students will be busy brainstorming, experimenting, testing their ideas, and working on their final presentations. They’ll also be participating in a wide range of activities outside the classroom—from sports and team challenges to evening socials—so the learning continues long after lessons end.
We’ll be sharing more updates soon, including photos, reflections from the students, and (of course) some of the brilliant ideas that emerge from their entrepreneurial journeys.
If this sounds like the kind of learning experience your child would love, or if you'd like to know more about our summer programmes, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
